About Cosenza
Cosenza is a historic city located in the Calabria region of southern Italy. Known as the “City of the Bruzi” (after the ancient Italic tribe), it boasts a rich history that dates back to its founding in the 4th century BC. The city is nestled at the confluence of the Crati and Busento rivers, surrounded by lush hills and close to the Sila National Park, offering a picturesque setting.
The old town of Cosenza is a treasure trove of medieval and Renaissance architecture, with narrow cobblestone streets, charming piazzas, and notable landmarks such as the Cosenza Cathedral (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and the Norman-Swabian Castle, which offers stunning views of the city. The city’s modern district, on the other hand, is vibrant and dynamic, featuring the MAB (Museo all’Aperto Bilotti), an open-air museum showcasing sculptures by renowned artists like Salvador Dalí and Giorgio De Chirico.
